Great 15mm not40k Orks

Hey all, just a quick aside for those kind readers who do 15mm scifi. A quick read on TMP turned up this: http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=279392. Brilliant. I did my GZG mercenaries closer to their inspiration -

My take on them

Well Jim Klein (who I don't know but love his work now, and these pics were not used with his permission but thay are really cool. Hope you don't mind if I spread the word a little Jim) offered up this great take on them as well:

Brilliant. I love it. When I got the mercenary sculpts, this was the first thing I thought about. Wow those would be great space orcs. I decided to not do them that way cause I wanted to go a different way. But now, I may need to get some more packs so I can do them just like this. I have a bunch of 15mm Armor that could proxy. And I already have a bunch of notEldar I picked up.

You could then play large battle with In The Emperors Name, or use FUBAR or anything else. With all this OldHammer/Rogue Trader nostalgia going on, you could easily proxy all the great early stuff and have some fun. I know that Blue Moon does some great potential stand-ins for Marines.

Anybody else got some suggestions for proxies? With Demonworld's line now being reporduced, I bet with some work, you could have some Dark Eldar and Squats pretty quickly.

Post Apoc - Composite shots and a Watch Tower

Here is a quick update with the finished shanties in context with other figs and terrain pieces. More stuff to come like generators, well, vendors, bazaar, blacksmith, gunsmith, tinker shop.

Enjoy.

Here's a couple of shots of a wtch tower, a search light, and some gangways. I am going to add a lower tier of firing/observation platform around the tower and at the top of the search light before they are painted. The searchligt and the floor of the tower are at the same level so the gangways can connect them. these would be for a Corps of Engineer outpost or such where they have the tech to actually build something like this.

Finished Shanties for 28mm Post Apocalypse

I needed to assess where I am at for my Post Apoc game Fistful of Lead: Wasteland Warriors for the Recruits convention.

I really needed to polish off and paint my shanty town. Inspired that Spacejacker did some great, quick 15mm stuff last week, this seemd like a good time. and there is only 3 weeks left til the show.

So I now have 14 shanties for my shanty town. I showed the burned out/shelled out shaties earlier. These are the intact ones. All scratchbuilt. Based on 3" square MDF. Here they are:

Simple Residence Shanty

A more run down shanty

A scratchbuilt metal container

Secrued merchant shanty

Lean-to

An open food vendor stall

A secured vendor shop

Worn down shanty

Vic's Weapon O'Rama

A pen - for people, mutants, animals...whatever you want.
I'll do some quick setups with the rubble and trash heaps, etc.

I'm thinking this may be a town scenario: A simple altercation in town has spun out of control in the OutTown slums outside its walls. The Corps of Engineers needs to put it down before it spills into Town. And some opportunistic archaeologists, traders, raiders and muties will try to use the chaos to better their own place in this smear of a world.
