Merry Christmas, Everyone

I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone from the old Workshop of Doom.

Regardless of your belief system, whether you say Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, or celebrate any other of the end of the calendar year, passing into winter celebrations or ceremonies, I just wanted to say I wish you and your families all the best in health, happiness, and love for the coming year.

We all have such a limited time here together, so enjoy the time you can get with those you love, and tell them so. Fill your cup up with their reflected warmth. And live a life worth living.

Now, back to stirring these caldrons. They ain't gonna stir themselves.

Vacation Means Workshop of Doom Fun!

Well fair readers of the old Blog, it's been a really busy couple of years for the Leadaddict. Between Coaching Football, Being a Football Parent, selling my business, huge demands at work, and an incredibly busy family life, there ain't been many candles burned in the old Workshop of Doom.

But I am here to tell you, the ole addict is gonna have some time to hit this thing right. Starting tomorrow I am on vacation til January 4th. And beside all of my family and friend commitments and the holiday, this old grognard is gonna paint and build armies and terrain. I can't wait. Here's what's on the block to be worked on. A nice mix of old and new:

Lead Addict's Vacation Projects

Painting
Epic
28mm Post Apoc Teams
Necromunda
High Elves – Singles
High Elves – Bases
Dwarven – Singles
Frost Grave
·         3 Warbands
·         4 Special Characters
·         Undead

Terrain
28mm Post Apoc
Epic Buildings
Necromunda
Frostgrave

I have gotten all of the Frostgrave stuff from the first two Nickstarters and have been working on terrain, so I am looking forward to finishing some ruins and knocking out some warbands.

Since Dragon Rampant is coming out soon, I need to get some armies ready for that. I have Undead mostly done, generic human medieval (bretonnians) mostly done, and a couple of units of Dwarves started. Need to get a full complement of High Elves and Dwarves finished.

A couple of us Basement Generals have agreed to dust off our Necromunda and play some this winter, I have 3 gangs done, time to dust off the unpainted ones and paint them up and have more options and base paint my terrain.

And as the Baron and I get ready for our Fistful of Lead: Wasteland Warriors Kickstarter, time to paint some more figs and finish more have finished terrain.

And I continue to lust after Onslaughts Epic figs. So I may put in a small notTau order and have some 6mm fun as well.

Ambitious. Yes, But as I get back into the swing of things, I wanted to limit my choices, but have a variety I would enjoy. So If I get a unit form each category I'll be happy. We shall see...

Best wishes and Merry Christmas to all

Fistful of Lead: Wasteland Warriors Playtest

Hey fellow Addicts! It's been a while on the ole Lead Addict site. But I wanted to do a couple of things.
Mr. Ropers Cash and Carry Outlet
First Congrats to The Baron! His Fistful of Lead Reloaded Kickstarter campaign was fully funded at about 2.5X his funding level. That's awesome.Congrats buddy!

So that means great things for Fistful of Lead and all of the future variants we have planned. From Horse and Mustket, to Space Opera and Sci Fi Spec Ops, to Delving in those deep dark dungeons, Fistful of Lead is such a flexible, elegant, modifiable, and playable system, we think you could use it, with modifications for genre and flavor, for almost anything. Keeping the emphasis on playing the game with your friends and not on rules.

So off the excitement of that accomplishment, a celebratory shot of Knob Creek, we dove into a playtest of Fistful of Lead: Wasteland Warriors. The Post Apoc version of the game. A draft of the basic rules has been around for a while, but we have still have much to ring out of the original ideas. Above all the mods and the chrome it has to be fun, simple, playable, and satisfying.

Shot of the Western Ruins
Much fun was had. We had 7 Basement Generals playing last night. We could have accommodated 2-3 more. That's how flexible the game system is. It's great for cons and for home play. Or even head to head. Thanks BG's for the play.

Simple scounge scenario. Start on an edge. Scrounge for loot. Battle the environment and the other players. Whoever comes out alive with the most loot wins.

Where there's ruins, there's shanties...and Plainstalkers.
We use a simple card driven combined search and event deck. Move to an object, use an action to search, pull a card. You could get stashes of cash. We call them ducats (pronounced duck-its). or wasteland trash like a filthy feather boa or toy ray gun. Or loot weapons and equipment. Or an event card for a wasteland monster, building collapse, or rad rain. It's the luck of the draw.

An Protectron MkI Murderbot rushes to attack!
Everyone usually starts pretty hot and heavy looting things, but after a couple of radiation pools, some collapse damage, and a battle with a Plainstalker...all for a can of beans and an empty plastic bottle, everyone backs off searching and starts shooting, trying to loot the other players.

The abandoned Mansion always hides loot.

It was a good test. Nice to dust the terrain and figs off. much work to be done to get them where we want them and then the writing of the advanced rules, bestiary, and campaign rules.

Is that a rad pool or something more sinister.

It was fun to see the BG's and run a game. Thanks for hosting Baron at the Chateau. Looking forward to a long xmas break and getting some painting and gaming in. Hope you do too. Happy gaming!

I liked how well this guy blended into the rubble. You could barely spot him.

A slight distraction

For anyone that's still looking at the blog of the ole lead addict, I have another slight distraction that I find can fill the gaps of time when I have a piece of paper, some pens and 5 minutes............It's the 5-Minute Dungeon Blog!

I am setting a timer and not drawing longer than 5 minutes on a quick dungeon for a nights fun and entertainment. All you need are some random generator charts and you are golden. They are quick, dirty and raw, so no post 5 minute fixes or photoshop. Just proves you don't need an architectural degree (oh wait) to do a quick sketch for some dungeon bashing fun. Old School Style. Who cares about a dungeon ecology? Just bash away.

This was done in 3 minutes. I decided five may be just a bit better.

Some Finished 15mm Sci Fi

Here's a few shots of a few painted Micropanzer Gitungi. They will be used as troops in my Aquan Force. Kind of an aquarium suit for uplifted fishmen.

And her's some accompanying support for the Aquan force. Barracuda UAV's (GZG UAV's), and Crab Heavy Support Drone Walker (GZG).

Enjoy.
