Hail Caesar Fantasy! Wood Elves Quick Pics

Here is some quick pics of the finished Wood Elf Army for Hail Caesar Fantasy!

The army consists of:

A Great Green Wyrm Ridden by a Hero:
The beardy treemen can be seen on the left
An Army General Command Stand, Assorted Generals, Heroes, and Wizards stands, A Heavy Cav unit, A Centaur Hvy Cav Unit, A Scout Cav Unit, A Unit of Treemen, A Tree Man Hero Unit:

Hvy Cav, Centaurs and Scouts
2 Units of Pegasus Rider Cav, 2 Units of Centaur Bow Lt. Cav, 3 Units of Wood Elf Light Infantry Long Bow Archers:
Pegasus Riders in Front, Centaurs behind, Archers behind, Hvy Infantry to right
Heavy Spear Infantry Unit, Elite Guard Hvy 2 Handed Sword Infantry, 2 Units of Medium Hunter Infantry, 2 Units of Medium Spear Infantry, Guard Arrow Lords(Medium Long Bow Infantry):
Hvy Infantry Left to Right
All told its 11 Units of infantry, 9 Units of Cav, 2 Huge Monster Units, 8 Heroes, Wizards and Leaders, and 1 Army General Stand.

I have another Heavy Cav Unit, Skirmishers and another 2 Hunter Units to do. I will probably add another two units of Treemen(GW plastic Dryads), and would like to add a unit of Eagles.

That would get me up to 28 Units of Infantry, Cav, and Monsters plus leaders and heroes. that puts 1 large division in each players hand if we have 4 Wood Elf players. Or two regular sized divisions if we are playeing 3 players a side. Perfect.

I think I am going to build a light box like the one Space Jacker built, only bigger since I photgraph units more than singles, so I can maybe eventually get a few good shots on here.

Since this was pretty satisfying, I am going to get the Orcs basing finished so we can have a proper game, then on to some terrain to match.

Happy Rolling!

New Units for Hail Caesar Fantasy - Wood Elf Reinforcements

I was on vacation last week out of town, but I did get to steal so painting time once I returned. I got some reinforcements for the Wood Elves done. Archers, Hvy Cav, and Spear units. All told, this group added 6 units to the army. I have another unit of Hvy Cav,  2 of skirmishers, 2 of Wardancers to do before the army is complete. For a while. Then its on to finish the Orcs and Goblins. I am speed painting these armies, so I am really trying to focus on what they look like at gamers distance (3' away), so some short cuts are in the mix.

Additions to the army.

Right now we are playing the Wood Elves as a generic elf kind of army. As we continue to play and fine tune the units we will get the flavor right. We are using the Warhammer Army Lists for Hail Caesar Fantasy put up on the Yahoo! group. They are a great starting point, and the guys are excited about using the units and flavor of Classoc Warhammer, without the rules. Yeah.

As usual, basing and flocking needs to be done. I have 4 more wood elf units to do before the Army is 'complete' and then I will do the army at one time. I need to get some meadow flowers and such for the bases, so I still have some time.

Hail Caesar! a quick opinion.

I have been reading the rules since our HC Fantasy game last week. Like Black Powder. I really like the simple mechaincs and overall feel of the game. It's probably not everyones cup of tea. And it is lighter on the granularity some folks want in their wargamming, but for me, its a winner and we will get a lot of use out of these rules. Almost makes me want to paint an ancients army. Almost. I'll stick to 15mm fantasy for now.

I like it so much, it made me get out some more 15mm Demonworld wood elves and paint since last thursday. I finished 3 units of 4 stands( a full division) of Wood Elf Archers to help them withstand the Green Onslaught. Another unit of Wood Elf Hvy Cav is about half done. I will do another Hvy Cav after this one, and some Wood Elf Spears. Then its time for the greenskins to get some reinforcements.
