Saga

So the Sagas.

My 15 year olds Ogre Kingdoms Army sits on our big painting table where he, and my 8 and 6 year old paint figs, and I usually do assembly work and help them with questions and techniques.

As I was assembling my viking warband, I looked at his Ogres and thought about doing a Viking fantasy saga campaign.

Vikings, Ogres, trolls, goblinoids, dwarves, etc. snow covered battlefields, viking gods interfering, etc.

I don't know enough about the viking sagas, but thats what the internet is for.

Nappies, and other stuff

Well, continued phase I Nappies over the weekend. satred on the arty for Phase I and II.

I have pants done, jackets base painted and flesh base painted and inked on 3 foot arty units and 3 horse arty units for the Brits.

The cannons mock me. But little do they know how quickly they will get painted.

After that the Hvy Dragoons and some command stands.

I plan on finishing Phase I end of Nov, first of Dec, while my wife plays the new WoW expansion. So I can check someting off the list.

I need to take pics of my WiP. I am terrible about that.

I also have about 3/4 of the Vikings cleaned, based and ground.

Ground is short for applying basing paste or other flocking, sand etc prior to priming so the basing is almost done when you complete the figs. I only do this for individually based figs. Baron Von Jaye turned me on to Resin Sand from Liquitex. Its a paste that dries clear but hase some sand texture to it. Perfect for that first base coat prior to leaves, grass, rocks, etc.

Winter Projects

Oh I almost forgot.

10. Paint a medieval warband (20 mixed figs) for Sond of Blades and Heroes

11. Paint 2 Warbands for Mutants and Deathray Guns

12. Paint 5 mixed warbands for Song of Blades (Necromancer, Minotaur, Orcs, Elves, Liche Undead).

The CLOSET

So I think this winter I will be putting up lots of pictures of the hordes of painted and unpainted lead in my CLOSET OF DOOM.

I am sometimes sickened by it, always in awe of it, and frankly sometimes when I look at the boxes of unpainted lead in it, I close it and turn around and go upstairs to play World of Warcraft, defeated by the mere thought of how to wade through the masses.

But I have a renewed vigor and interest and I want to get it painted, and most of all I want to play. and I have my sons who are just dying for the chance.

I am truly obsessed and addicted to miniatures. Not as bad as some I know, but addicted none the less.

PROJECTS FOR THE WINTER

1. Continuing the Nappy Penninsular Project

2. Painting my 100+ man Viking Warband

3. Painting 4-6 Units for Dark Ages Arthur/Fall of Rome

4. Painting 4-6 Units of Saxons

5. Getting the nerve to paint the Perry's Crusaders/Normans 2-3 Units

6. Painting enough sci-fi stuff to play Space Hulk games in my new Dwarven Forge Sci Fi Terrain

7. Help my 8 yr old paint his High Elf Army 4 units at least.

8. Paint some of my ground troops for Hollow Shell 4-5 units

9. Paint 3 Fleets for Hollow Shell

Quite a list...think I might just go play WoW just thinking about it.

Napoleonics Update

I am working on a nice sized Pennisular British Army in 28mm. We play Age of Eagles, and a simpler, house rules version of Fire and Fury.

So far 6 infantry units done, 3 arty units ready to paint, and a unit of dragoons and command are first phase.

Second phase is 4 more infantry units, 2 units of highlanders, an Hussar unit, and a Lt dragoon unit, 3 horse arty units.

Third Phase is some Allies - the Spanish, and maybe a Portugese unit or two.

Pics to come. Some of the best units I have painted. Painted all 96 figs at one time. Its a real march, but to have 6 units completed at the end was really worth it. I will do all uniformed armies like this from now on.

French are after the Spanish.

this is one of those lifetime sets of Armies, mostly because of how slow I paint, but it will be worth it.

Space Opera

Introduction Update on the Space Opera Blog.

Pics of the Neo-Soviet Dominion (NSD) and European Commonwealth (EC) fleets to come soon.

And I think the splitter from the EC - The Prussian Federation will make its first appearance as well.
